Kaarkurutuinytja (meaning Lake MacDonald)

This painting was completed by Molly soon after her mother, Narpua Nanagala Jugadai, gave her permission to paint her mother’s story, the story of Lake MacDonald, West of Kintore. In this painting Molly paints the Tali Tali (Sand Hills) surrounding the lake which is also Narpua’s father’s country. The blue line work represents Kaarkurutuinytja. According to Narpua when this area has big rain Lake MacDonald fills up. The blue lines are symbolic of this. If the line work is white, it means there has been no rain for a long time and the salt lake is dry.

Molly passed away in 2011.
